Riley Schellhammer: Freshman Year, Big Dreams, and Ready to Shine 🌟
Riley Schellhammer just rolled into Fishers High School, and she’s already got everyone talking. At just 14, Riley is not your typical freshman. She’s an Adidas All-American and a Prep Ball Stars 3-point champion. High school’s just started, and Riley’s already got some serious bragging rights—before even playing a game. 🏀
So, how’s Riley handling the big transition? “It’s been a smooth transition,” she says, like stepping into high school with these kinds of accolades is just another day. “It’s nice to get on the court with my teammates before the season starts.” While she hasn’t hit the court for an official game yet, she’s already finding her groove, getting hyped with her new squad. 🤝
Those early titles and trophies? Just proof that hard work pays off. “It feels good to see all of the hard work and training pay off,” Riley says, looking every bit the part of a young athlete who’s ready to shine. She’s been putting in the hours, and now it’s all about taking that hard work and showing it off where it counts. 💪
And what’s she most excited about? “Finally being able to play high school basketball,” Riley says, practically buzzing with excitement. “I’ve played up 2 and 3 years my entire life, so finally being able to play with and against those players in high school will be fun!” She’s been prepping for this, and now she’s ready to show out. 🔥
But let’s be real—it’s not just about basketball. Riley’s got the schoolwork side of things down, too. “At the beginning of each week, I sit down with my parents and talk about my basketball training and practices so that I’m prepared for when I’m able to do my school work for that week,” she says. A dry erase calendar in her room keeps everything organized. It’s all about staying on top of her game—on and off the court. 📅
Joining the Fishers High basketball team has been awesome so far. “The upperclassmen and coaches have made me feel welcomed by organizing team bonding activities,” Riley says. Team vibes are strong, and Riley’s all about building that chemistry before they even hit the court. 🙌
When it comes to goals, Riley’s not messing around. “As I start my freshman season, I would like to average double figures.” She’s aiming to make an impact right from the get-go, showing that she’s not just here to play—she’s here to compete and win. 🏆
But Riley’s ambitions aren’t just about what happens on the court. “I want to develop my leadership skills on and off the floor. I also want to maintain a good GPA and have good grades,” she says. She’s all about being a well-rounded student-athlete, making sure she’s crushing it in school just as much as in sports. 📚
Riley’s biggest inspirations? Her parents. “My parents are my role models because they work so hard to make sure I have what I need to be successful,” she says. And she’s looked up to some of the older players at Fishers, too. “I also followed the Fishers Girls Basketball program during the state runner-up run a few seasons ago and enjoyed watching the Smith twins play and lead their team.” With role models like that, it’s no wonder Riley’s ready to take on the world. 🌍
In the classroom, Riley’s all about those numbers. “I enjoy my math class,” she says. Balancing equations and balancing on the court—it’s all the same to her. “I make sure to spend enough time on homework and studying so that I can achieve good grades.” Because being a student-athlete means hitting the books and hitting those three-pointers. 🔢
Pre-game, it’s all about getting in the zone with some music. “I like to listen to music before games. My favorite genre is rap and enjoy listening to Drake, J. Cole, 21 Savage, and others.” Nothing like a good beat to get hyped and ready to bring it. 🎧
Riley’s not doing this alone. “My family and friends are really supportive by attending my games. My friends also make sure that I’m free based on my training schedule so that we can all get together,” she says. Her head coach, Coach Votaw, has been a big help too. “My head coach, Coach Votaw, and I have met several times over the past year at Starbucks so that we could get to know each other better.” Whether it’s game strategy or just chatting over coffee, Riley’s got a support system that’s helping her every step of the way. ☕️
Looking ahead, Riley’s got her eyes on some big prizes. “Our sectional is really competitive, and I would like our team to have a chance to win it,” she says. It’s all about bringing her best, pushing her team to succeed, and making this freshman year one to remember. ✨
Even with everything on her plate, Riley knows how to chill. “I like relaxing and hanging out with my friends and family. I unwind by listening to music and watching TV,” she says. It’s all about finding that balance, making sure there’s time to kick back and enjoy life, even with a packed schedule. 📺
For all the other freshmen out there, Riley’s advice is on point: “Maintain a good sleep schedule, study hard, and manage your time. Also find some time to just be a regular kid!” It’s all about working hard, playing hard, and enjoying the ride. 🛹
Riley Schellhammer hasn’t played her first high school game yet, but trust us—when she does, she’s going to make a splash. With her talent, her drive, and her crew backing her up, she’s ready to make some serious noise. Fishers High, get ready—Riley’s here, and she’s bringing her A-game. 🎯
