1. Performance at Adidas Euro Camp:
Q: Aleksandar, congratulations on your outstanding performance at the Adidas Euro Camp. Can you walk us through what it felt like to dominate Team USA?
A: Thank you! It was a good feeling to have such a good game against highly ranked and talented USA players. My mindset was to go and show what I can do because I wasn't even invited at first for the camp. I got invited at the last minute because one of the players couldn't go, and I went to the game straight from the plane.
2. Background and Development:
Q: Can you share a bit about your basketball journey in Bulgaria? How did you get started, and who have been the most influential figures in your development?
A: My dad is the biggest reason I'm playing basketball since a toddler. He was with me in the gym every day when I was young and taught me the fundamentals of the game. To this day, he is still the guy who has the biggest impact on my development as a player, and I really appreciate that.
Q: What does your daily training regimen look like, and how do you stay motivated and focused on improving your game?
A: In Bulgaria, I usually wake up at 7:30/8 am and then go lift and have an individual workout on the court. Then I have team practice in the late afternoon or evening.
3. Nickname "Bulgarian Chocolate":
Q: Your nickname "Bulgarian Chocolate" has caught a lot of attention. Can you tell us how you got that nickname and what it means to you?
A: It's a good nickname, and I like it a lot. It came from Jordan Swishculture after the game against the USA. I never had a nickname before, so it means a lot to have a nickname that is already known worldwide.
4. Future Goals and Aspirations:
Q: What are your short-term and long-term goals in basketball? Are there any particular leagues or teams you dream of playing for?
A: My short-term goals are to win the European Championship Division B with Bulgaria with both teams, U20 and U18. My long-term goal is to be a great player in the NBA. I want to play in D1 from next season and I'm looking into the offers I got.
Q: How do you see your role evolving as you continue to grow and develop as a player?
A: I see myself as a leader wherever I go; that's instilled in my character.
5. Adapting to International Play:
Q: Playing against teams from different countries presents unique challenges. How do you adapt your game to face different styles of play and diverse opponents?
A: My dad is always telling me that the great player adapts really fast to any situation. So I always try to adapt quickly and get to know my teammates, what they can do, and what the opponents can do as well. I'm always mentally prepared for any situation and confident in my skills.
Q: What do you believe are the key differences between European basketball and American basketball?
A: The key differences between European basketball and American are the fundamentals and team basketball. When we played against them, they were just playing one on one with max 1-2 passes and most of the points scored over 100.
6. Influences and Inspirations:
Q: Who are your basketball idols, and how have they influenced your style of play?
A: My basketball idol is Steph Curry.
Q: Are there any particular moments or games in your career so far that have been especially memorable or defining for you?
A: My favorite basketball moment so far is winning the National Title with the pro team of Balkan Botevgrad in 2022. I didn't play in this game, but I was on the team the whole season, and it was always my biggest dream to win a title with my hometown team.
7. Advice for Young Players:
Q: What advice would you give to young basketball players in Bulgaria or anywhere else who aspire to reach your level of success?
A: Well, I can't say that I'm that successful yet, because I'm just 18, but I would say to them: Just be confident in yourself, work hard, and believe in what you do. Success will come naturally when you work hard and believe.
8. Experience at the Adidas Euro Camp:
Q: Can you describe the atmosphere at the Adidas Euro Camp? What were some of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of the experience?
A: The atmosphere was amazing! I faced a lot of great players from around the world and the competition in this gym was crazy. I made a lot of new friendships with both players and coaches.
9. Personal Interests:
Q: Outside of basketball, what are some of your hobbies and interests? How do you like to spend your time when you're not on the court?
A: Outside of basketball, I'm a chill guy, so I don't do too much. I go eat after practice with my teammates and then go home and sleep before the second practice. In the evening, I love to watch a lot of basketball.
10. Message to Fans:
Q: Finally, what message would you like to send to your fans and supporters, both in Bulgaria and internationally?
